In Memory of Yvonne Miklós

A Tribute to a Pioneering Cinematographer and Filmmaker

Yvonne who passed away earlier this year, left a profound mark on Israeli

documentary and narrative cinema. Through her artistic work, as well as her

dedication as a teacher and mentor, she inspired generations of filmmakers and

cinematographers.

Hosted by filmmaker and Head of the Film Department at Beit Berl College, Limor

Pinhasov, the evening will open with a screening of Hunger (15 min.), a short film

directed and photographed by Yvonne Miklós.

The screening will be followed by a conversation featuring filmmakers and

collaborators from different stages of Yvonne’s life and career: from veteran

filmmakers who worked closely with her, to a longtime partner in film education, and

a young cinematography student whose approach to light and image-making was

deeply influenced by Yvonne.

The discussion will explore Yvonne’s body of work, her distinctive visual language,

her influence on Israeli cinema, and the legacy she leaves behind.

In the second part of the evening, filmmaker Abeer Zeibak Haddad will join the

panel and present a 12-minute excerpt from her film Women of Freedom,

photographed by Yvonne Miklós.

Zeibak Haddad, for whom Yvonne served as cinematographer on three films, will

reflect on their creative collaboration and on Yvonne’s significant contribution to her

filmmaking journey.

The evening will conclude with a special memorial video created by Yvonne’s

students and former pupils, featuring photographs, behind-the-scenes moments, and

selected excerpts from her films.

An evening of remembrance, creativity, and tribute to a woman who viewed the

world through her camera with sensitivity, courage, and extraordinary

humanity.
