The Peace Dove Sculpture

In my "peace dove" sculpture I choose to express my belief that most people on both sides of a conflict want to live together in peace and harmony and overcome the tension and war that exist in so many places around the world.

One side of the sculpture portrays a peace dove that symbolizes peace, tolerance, mutual respect and human rights.

The other side of the sculpture depicts a couple dancing which symbolizes living together harmoniously with constant awareness of the other. This pertains also to nations for whom peace is a continuous dance.

The use of the color white reminds us of the pure, clean peace dove and the continuous and flowing lines enhance the feeling of harmony.

Sue Ela, Sculptor

Sue Ela was born in the United States and has lived in Israel since 1970. Her sculptures deal mostly with women, relationships and dance. Her favorite technique is bending steel wires, covering them with clay and casting them in bronze or polyester. Sue's conviction that people have the ability to change and grow is expressed in the flow and movement in her sculpture. Based on her abstract sculptures, Sue has designed numerous outdoor sculptures and experiential, interactive sculptures, two of which were enlarged and placed permanently in a sculpture park in Modiin, Israel in 2013. She also designed "The Kingdom Playground" in the Liberty Bell Park near the center of Jerusalem which was inaugurated in January 2019. The park is made up of eight huge sculptures of royal images including slides, crown shaped benches and princes and princesses behind which children can stand to be photographed. Sue's sculpture "Vision", in memory of her husband, was recently placed at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. It is three meters high and casted in aluminum. Sue has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Israel, the United States and Europe.
