Celebrated Russian animator Andrey Khrzhanovsky (Room and a Half, 2009 Haifa IFF) presents a groundbreaking requiem to the Russian avant-garde. Khrzhanovsky dedicates his new animated film, winner of a Special Jury Prize at Annecy, to the pioneers, the groundbreakers in art, the people who were ahead of their time and were brave enough to go against the current.

The film is based on two great creations of the Russian genius: The short story The Nose by Nikolai Gogol and the opera The Nose by Dmitri Shostakovich, based on the story. Techniques used: drawing on paper, cut-outs, 2D computer, live action

Khrzhanovsky is the father of Ilya Khrzhanovskiy, whose film DAU. Natasha is also presented in this year’s Haifa Festival.
