Le Jardin

Dir: Menashe Noy (1989)

Cast: Menashe Noy, Shai Avivi

A man and a woman separate. Following the breakup, each of them is given advice by a variety of distinct and weird characters, all played by the director. (18 min.)

 

 

Tasnim

Dir: Elite Zexer (2010)

Tasnim, a strong and opinionated 10-year-old, lives with her mother and siblings in a Bedouin village in the Negev. A surprise visit from her father forces her to confront the conservative norms of the family tribe, and the fact that she is no longer daddy's-little-girl. The film was screened in more than a hundred film festivals, including Clermont-Ferrand, Palm Springs, Aspen and Haifa. (12 min.)

 

 

Comfortably Numb

Dir: Ari Folman, Ori Sivan (1991)

A night stroll through the streets of Tel Aviv during the Gulf War, between emotional states, from citizens externalizing absurd anxieties about the grotesque Central Station, to an elderly woman cronichling the eight wars she experienced, and more. Winner of the Ophir Award and the Volgin Award at the Jerusalem Festival. (40 min.)

 

 

Reality Check

Dir: Michal Vinik (2011)

November 4th, 1995. Inbar and Sveta, two teenage girls spend a night out on the town, Inbar looking to smoke her first joint, Sveta cannot wait to lose her virginity. During the night, Sveta will meet some guys, Inbar will inhale, and prime minister Rabin will be shot. Reality Check was premiered at Locarno, was screened in dozens of festivals around the world and won the Best Film Award at the TLVFest. (22 min.)

 

Chavatzelet

Dir: Levana Hakim (1990)

Cast: Anat Waxman

Havatzelet lives her life in three places. In the evenings, she spends time in a pub populated by foreign workers and sailors. At nights, she shares her family's house with her brother, her pregnant sister and her conservative mother. For a living she works as a nanny for a rich call-girl. When the lines between Lily's different worlds blur, everything threatens to collapse. The film won a number of awards, including a Best Actress Award for lead actress Anat Waxman. (42 min.)
