Ranbiwa, a monkey raised in an ancient human tribe, sets out on a journey to the Holy Mountain in search of the secret of “warmth.” After enduring hardship and peril, he steals the Fire Stone from the mouth of the Beast of Fear—but his journey doesn’t end there.

A Story about Fire is based on an ancient myth of the Qiang, a minority group living in the mountainous regions of southwest China. Created in 2D hand-drawn animation, the film evokes the style of traditional Chinese ink painting and uses a captivating visual language to tell an ancient tale with humor and wit.
