United by the unexpected inheritance of a house in Normandy, four estranged cousins discover their family history. Exploring the house – untouched since the 1940s – they excavate the life of their ancestor, Adèle Vermillard, a 20-year-old woman who lived there in 1895. The end of the 19th century saw the birth of both photography and the Impressionist movement, which profoundly changed painting. Through back-and-forth journeys between 1895 and 2025, what they find in the relics of the past will help them better imagine their own future.

The new film from beloved French filmmaker Cédric Klapisch tells a story about family, memory, and the power of the past to shape the future. Klapisch enriches the story with breathtaking scenery and an impressive ensemble cast.

This film is also subtitled in Russian.

Filmography: Someone, Somewhere (2019), Back to Burgundy (2017), Pot Luck (2002).
