Young Nico, a spirited and surly child, is sent to spend the summer in Sicily with his elderly aunt, Gela. Highly religious and cantankerous, she lives alone in an ancient building filled with legends and superstition. The house, devoid of Wi-Fi and electrical appliances, is untouched by technology—a place completely outside of time. The clash between modernity and tradition, speed and stillness, seems inevitable. Yet gradually, a tender bond develops—one neither of them knew they needed.

Sweetheart, the feature debut of Margherita Spampinato, arrives in Haifa following its world premiere at the Locarno Festival. A bittersweet coming-of-age tale, the film builds an unexpected bridge of human connection.
