Hello, Dolly!

Gene Kelly's lavish screen version of the Broadway smash – one of the last of the big studio musicals – is an extravagant cinematic interpretation of the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical. The musical numbers, choreographed by Michael Kidd, have sensational energy and vitality, and Streisand shines in the title role.

As Dolly Levi, Barbra Streisand plays a well-known matchmaker in 1890s New York City who is hired to help the rich and grumpy Horace Vandergelder (Walter Matthau) find a wife. Along the way, she not only unites other young couples, including Horace's niece, but also, unsurprisingly, finds love herself.
