Two souls meet amidst the striking architecture and park-like greenery of Columbus, Indiana. Casey has given up her dreams in order to care for her mother, who is recovering from an addiction to meth and bad men. Jin, an architect’s son born in Korea, is here because his father is in a coma. The two form a bond as they tour the city, discussing its different distinctive architecture.

Columbus, a formally exquisite debut by director-to-watch Kogonada, is a mesmerizing work that’s at once intellectually rigorous and warmly human.
