Areum is looking forward to her first day of work at a small publishing house, unaware that until recently her boss Bongwan was in a relationship with the girl she is replacing. That same morning, while Bongwan thinks about his lost love, his wife finds a love letter he’s written to her and she is on her way to the office.

Shot in sparse black and white, in a series of long takes, The Day After explores themes of love, separation, jealousy, and disappointment in a style unique to the iconic filmmaker.
