My Brother, My Love

Panorama

"The juxtaposition between reality and onirism, the lawful and the illicit, dominates Imbach's entire film. An intentional ambiguity that destabilises and intrigues."

The love that 16-year-old Lena feels for her brother Noah is more than sisterly love. To distract herself, she encourages Noah's friend Enis. But she is so obsessed with her brother that she cannot curb her feelings. She starts daydreaming, until the day she finally brings herself to confess to Noah. He is shocked and repels her. Lena embarks on a journey into the unknown.

Thomas Imbach’s tale of impossible love is set mostly in and around the Glaubenberg Pass in the Emmental Alps.
