The year is 1989 and Addis Ababa is torn by a civil war. Mina lives with her family in a secluded area and spends precious quiet moments under a fig tree with her childhood friend, Eli. When her Jewish family finds a way to leave and find shelter in Israel, Mina cannot bear leaving Eli behind. She decides to challenge the laws of war.

Aäläm-Wärqe Davidian’s feature debut was shot on location in Ethiopia, where the filmmaker was born.
