The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert

Haifa Classics

"I wasn't prepared for the generosity and gorgeousness with which Aussie writer-director Stephan Elliott turn this most unlikely road picture into something arresting -- if a tad sentimental -- in its naive vision of a perfectly tolerant world."

25th Anniversary special screening, with director Stephan Elliott

Twenty-five years have passed since we first met two drag queens and their transgender friend as they made their way across the Australian outback. Fueled by the eternal disco tunes of the Village People, Gloria Gaynor, and (of course) Abba, armed with jaw-dropping costume creations that won an Academy Award for Best Costume Design, the trio brought the gospel of LGBT to homophobic desert dwellers.

Perhaps the most fabulous and colorful road-movie ever, Priscilla brings together three of Australia’s biggest stars in a journey that has lost none of its wit, energy and emotion.

Filmography: Swinging Safari (2018), Easy Virtue (2008).
