A Certain Kind of Silence | Tiche doteky

Golden Anchor Competition for Debuts

"With its artfully muted Scandi-chic color palette, painstakingly framed architecture porn and almost subliminal drone-driven score, A Certain Kind of Silence is a gorgeous aesthetic experience."

Mia, a young Czech au-pair, begins working abroad in the upscale suburban home of a well-to-do family. She is hired to look after Sebastian, the family’s ten-year-old son and struggles not to be intimated by the chilly elegance of the villa, the impeccably groomed owners and the many strange rules of the household. Inevitably, the subtle psychological manipulations begin to have an effect.

Inspired by real events, Michal Hogenauer’s feature debut is a beautifully composed psychological thriller that combines gorgeous aesthetic experience with an increasing sense of evil.
