The year is 1971 and Bulgaria is under the Communist regime. Farm lands have been nationalized, the Muslim community is marginalized and Western music is considered a national threat. In a small village in the Rhodope Mountains, the only source of information and joy is Ali’s radio, but the device is destroyed in a fight. Ali will do anything to buy a new radio for his rock’n’roll-obsessed son Ahmet.

Rouzie Hassanova’s feature debut, based on her grandfather and father's history, is a story of music, freedom and identity.
