Bill Baker (Matt Damon), an Oklahoma-based unemployed oil rigger man, travels to Marseille to visit his estranged daughter Allison (Abigail Breslin). Allison is in prison for a murder she claims she did not commit. A stranger in a strange land, Bill hopes  to turn his own life around with the aid of a single mother and her young daughter, and to connect with Allison in a way he never could.

Stillwater comes to the Haifa Festival from its premiere at the Cannes Festival. Filmmaker Tom McCarthy presents an engaging adult drama, offering his star Matt Damon a rich opportunity to deliver an understated and authentic turn.
