Captain Fedor Volkonogov is a well-respected and obedient law enforcer in the National Security Service (NKVD). The year is 1938, the USSR is rife with political persecutions and Volkonogov witnesses his colleagues being suspiciously questioned. Sensing that his turn will soon come, he plans to escape, only to find his former colleagues hot on his tail. Knowing that time is running out, the captain sets on a tortuous journey in search of atonement.

Captain Volkonogov Escaped comes to Haifa directly from its world premiere at the Venice Festival. The new film by Natasha Merkulova and Aleksey Chupov is a fast-paced story that features an all-star cast.
