In the late 19th century, a young Danish priest travels to a remote part of Iceland to build a church and photograph its people. But the deeper he goes into the unforgiving landscape, the more he strays from his purpose, his mission and morality.

Hlynur Pálmason’s stunning historical drama, the third of his films to be screened in the program of the Haifa IFF after A White, White Day and Winter Brothers, comes to Haifa from its world premiere at the Un Certain Regard section of the 2022 Cannes Festival. “A savage indictment of colonial arrogance that plays like Werner Herzog's 'Fitzcarraldo' crossed with 'There Will Be Blood'”, Shane Danielsen, The Monthly.

Filmography: A White, White Day (2019), Winter Brothers (2017).
