When the stylish burglar Bob meets the married couple Monique and Antoine, the two bickering paupers are fascinated by him and quickly lured into his exciting world. Soon, both come to depend on Bob. However, when Antoine gives into Bob’s crush on him, the true ménage à trois begins.

Michel Blanc won the Best Actor award at Cannes for his performance in this provocative and increasingly absurd bourgeois takedown. Tenue de soirée ranks among the funniest of Bertrand Blier’s satires, and quick to set up its central threesome and comic conceit before letting the verbal sparks fly.

Filmography: Tenue de soirée (1986), Notre histoire (1984), Get Out Your Handkerchiefs (1978), Les Valseuses (1974).
