40-year-old Julia, a successful conductor, and her partner Georg long for a child. They visit the fertility clinic of Dr. Vilfort, and Julia soon becomes pregnant after a successful treatment. But the birth does not go as planned, and the baby is immediately taken away. When finally reunited with the child, Julia feels strangely distant. She begins to doubt whether it is really her child.
Mother's Baby comes to Haifa from the Official Competition at the Berlin Festival. Austrian filmmaker Johanna Moder turns the doubts and fears of new motherhood into a genre thriller, combining black comedy, paranoia, and a few surprises along the way.
