In 1811, Mary Anning, an inquisitive and tenacious twelve-year-old girl, spends her days searching for fossils. Her father passed on this passion to her, but her life suddenly changes when he disappears, leaving behind a mysterious drawing and a struggling family. Determined to help her mother and brother, Mary sets out to uncover the secret of the drawing. She discovers so much more than just fossils: friendship, adventures, and the very beginnings of paleontology.

Based on the early life of the real Mary Anning, who made her first major discovery at the age of 12, Locarno Kids Award winner Marcel Barelli's debut feature offers enchanting handcrafted 2D animation.
