Shimon Rothschild knows exactly where everyone should stand on set: the cinematographer, the set design, the actors playing the members of his family who perished in the Holocaust. On the eve of his 100th birthday, Shimon recreates his life story together with director Tomer Heymann: the chain of coincidences that saved him from the gas chambers of Auschwitz, the brutal medical experiments he endured at Sachsenhausen, the death march, and his life after the war. In a specially constructed studio, and with actors portraying figures from his past, Shimon moves through the space, giving instructions with unwavering determination and a unique sense of humor, while exploring the boundaries between memory and reconstruction.
