Over sixty years since it won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and launched its director and lead actress to international stardom, we’re honored to show this new digital restoration of La Strada.

Touring around provincial Italy with their circus act, strong-man Zampanò has a brutish relationship with the funny waif with whom he performs. But a meeting with an enigmatic tightrope-walker gives Gelsomina a sense of self-worth.

Filmography: Roma (1972), Satyricon (1969), Giulietta degli Spiriti (1965), 8½ (1963), La Dolce Vita (1960), The Nights of Cabiria (1957).
