Gil and Kat have been friends since their time at a college. Gil is from Israel, Kat from Austria; Gil is the granddaughter of Holocaust survivors, Kat the granddaughter of a Nazi officer. Despite these fundamental differences they have been friends for over ten years.

Through them we meet Dan and Guy who have decided to move to Austria and Germany respectively, decisions that have affected their relationships with their families, especially their grandparents. The film deals with the third generation of Holocaust survivors and their attempt to make their own way.
