The life story of Astrid Lindgren, one of the most beloved authors of children's books and creator of Pippi Longstocking. As a 16-year-old Astrid already proves herself a promising writer and begins to work in the village paper. A forbidden love affair with the paper’s married editor and the inevitable consequences will force a difficult decision on Astrid. But she is not the sort of woman to give up her child.
Astrid is played with great charm by Alba August, the daughter of filmmaker Bille August.
