Lucien de Rubempré, a young lower-class poet, is madly in love with the baroness Louise de Bargeton. The risk of scandal, in 19th century France, forces them to flee to Paris where they could live freely. Soon, the baroness abandons him and Lucien finds himself alone and penniless, until he meets a young journalist who takes him under his wing. In a world where everything can be bought or sold, Lucien will love, suffer and survive his illusions.

Lost Illusions comes to Haifa directly from its premiere at the Venice Festival. The polished period drama, with its glittering cast, is based on Honoré de Balzac’s masterpiece.

Filmography: The Apparition (2018), Marguerite (2015), Superstar (2012), In the Beginning (2009).
