"The offbeat, heartfelt “The Father” may not always give us what we want, but it makes sure we get what we need."

After losing his wife Valentina, Vasil believes that she is using his phone to reach him from beyond the grave, and enlists the services of a psychic to try and make contact with her. His son Pavel, an advertizing man living in Sofia, tries to bring him to his senses, but Vasil stubbornly insists on doing things his own way…

Winner of the Crystal Globe at the 2019 Karlovy Vary Festival, The Father is at once a gently absurd road movie, a bittersweet family drama and a compassionate and delightful film.

Filmography: Glory (2016), The Lesson (2014).
