Simon isn’t living the life he wants. He is tired of his dead-end job at a call centre, his pudgy body and his timid nature. When Simon decides to make a change and hit the gym, he immediately draws the attention of an intimidating personal trainer named Terry who offers to coach him. All too soon, Simon’s girlfriend leaves and Terry begins to take over his life.

Muscle is a darkly comic psychological thriller steeped in toxic masculinity and dripping with testosterone. The study of opposites was filmed in stylish black and white and the shooting had to stop for three months as Cavan Clerkin, who plays Simon, had to muscle up.
