Etienne is a theater actor, often out of work, a little grumpy but very endearing. He runs a theater workshop in a prison, where he brings together an unlikely troupe of prisoners to stage Samuel Beckett’s famous play Waiting for Godot. When he is allowed to take the colorful band of convicts on a tour outside the prison, Etienne finally has the chance to thrive.

The big hit is an intelligent and uplifting comedy starring Kad Merad (Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis). The story is inspired by true events in Sweden in 1985, which caused Samuel Beckett himself to comment: “That’s the best thing that happened to this play since I wrote it!”.
