Sangok, a former actress, has returned to Seoul from her home in the US to visit her sister. Re-accustoming to life in Korea, she is managing it one day at a time. A film director, some years younger than her, has asked her to join his project, and after a polite refusal, they have agreed to meet for the first time today.

The new film by Hong Sang-Soo, coming to Haifa from its premiere at the Cannes Festival, keeps true to his intimate and minimalist style. The Korean auteur continues his exploration of the complexity of human relationships, detouring through the rainy back alleys and cramped bars of Seoul, where loneliness is drowned in drink.

Filmography: Hotel by the River (2018), The Day After (2017), Woman on the Beach (2006), Woman Is the Future of Man (2004), The Day a Pig Fell into a Well (1996).
