Jacob Störr, a sea captain, makes a bet with a friend while sitting in a café, to marry the first woman who enters the place. In walks Lizzy (Léa Seydoux) and the rest is history.

The Story of My Wife comes to Haifa from its screening in the Official Competition of the 2021 Cannes Festival. The romantic drama, with its beautiful sets and artistic design, is based on a 1942 novel by Milan Fust. Filmmaker Ildiko Enyedi (Body and Soul, 2017 Haifa Festival) confides that the book inspired her as an adolescent and that she wished to get inside the so-called traditional male mindset as a woman author.

Filmography: On Body and Soul (2017), Simon, the Magician (1999), Magic Hunter (1994), My Twentieth Century (1989).
