In 1871, a Japanese ambassador, accompanied by two bodyguards, crosses the American West en route to meet President Grant. They are to present him with a samurai sword, but the convoy also carries gold, making it a target for bandits.

The Haifa Festival celebrates legendary actor Alain Delon (1935–2024) with this action classic, tagged as "The first East-meets-West Western!" - a film that marks Delon’s interntaional appeal and his ventures into genre cinema. Filmmaker Terence Young is known for his Bond movies and Bond girl Ursula Andress plays Delon’s girlfriend in the film.
