Melancholy Mau is the wife of an Air France pilot. One evening, while her husband is away, an unknown intruder breaks into their villa and rapes the young woman. She kills him and then has a difficult time disposing of the body. Not long afterwards she is bombarded with questions by Harry Dobbs, a mysterious American who seems to know something about the matter.

Winner of the 1971 Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film, Rider on the Rain locks Charles Bronson and Marlène Jobert in an unexpectedly twisted game of Hitchcockian cat and mouse. Bonus trivia: The film supposedly inspired Jim Morrison to write “Riders on the Storm,” (although this remains unsubstantiated)

Filmography: Purple Noon (1960), Forbidden Games (1952), La bataille du rail (1946).
