In the aftermath of World War II, Josef Mengele, the Nazi doctor from the Auschwitz camp, manages to flee to South America to start a new life in hiding. From Buenos Aires to Paraguay, and finally to Brazil, the man known as the “Angel of Death” methodically orchestrate his disappearance in order to evade any form of trial.

The new film from Russian master Kirill Serebrennikov (Limonov: The Ballad, Haifa IFF 2024) arrives in Haifa from its world premiere at the Cannes Festival. Adapting Olivier Guez's novel, Serebrennikov presents a fascinating film centered on a tour-de-force performance by August Diehl, a multi-layered drama tracing the "new life" of a human monster.

Filmography: Limonov: The Ballad (2024), Tchaikovsky's Wife (2022), The Student (2016).
