As a Spanish reporter uncovers the mystery behind an aging violin legend and her treasured instrument, a forgotten story of love, war and music emerges. In 1930s Singapore, childhood friends Fei and Kai are bound by music until war and the Japanese occupation tear them apart.

The Violinist, winner of this year’s Annecy Cristal Award, is an intimate animated film about the healing power of music. Set against the tumultuous backdrop of 20th-century Singaporean history, the film pulls at our heartstrings with its moving story and unforgettable soundtrack.

Filmography: Extraordinary Tales (Garcia, 2013), TimeScapes (Han, 2018).
