Amparo and her two children arrive by night to a small island in the middle of Amazonia. Fleeing the violence in their hometown, they seek refuge with Amparo’s aunt, in a community which has learned to live with the ebb and flow of the Amazon. Amparo’s husband is missing. But then suddenly one day he reappears in the family’s new home.

Los silencios, the story of a family caught between countries, and between life and death, had its world premiere at the Directors’ Fortnight section of the 2018 Cannes Festival.
