Gabriel, a Belgian filmmaker, arrives with his team to cast a film that will be shot in the cité Picasso, in the suburbs of Boulogne-Sur-Mer, in the north of France. Four teenagers - Lily, Ryan, Maylis and Jessy - are chosen to play in the film. Everyone in the neighborhood is surprised: why only take the "worst ones"?

Winner of the Un Certain Regard Award at the 2022 Cannes Festival, The Worst Ones is the feature debut of Lise Akoka and Romane Gueret. The two - former child actor casting directors and coaches - draw from their experiences to look at damaged childhoods and unite two worlds that appear to completely clash: a working-class neighborhood, and the film industry.
