Israeli Documentaries - Jury

Philippe Le Guay – Director and screenwriter, coming to Haifa with his latest film Naked Normandy. Le Guay studied at the French film school IDHEC. He began his career as a screenwriter before directing his first feature film Les Deux Fragonard in 1989. His filmography includes the César Award-nominated Bicycling with Molière (2013), The Women on the Sixth Floor (2010) and the short film Le Clou (1984).

Salwa Nakkara – Born and raised in Haifa, graduated from Beit Zvi School for the Performing Arts in 1980. Nakkara has played in most Israeli theatres: Haifa Theatre, Neve Tsedek, Tzavta, Habima Theatre, the Cameri Theatre, Herzelia Ensemble and Al-Midan Theatre. She has participated in various films, among them: Divine Intervention, A Trumpet in the Wadi, and On a Narrow Bridge. Recently she has taken part in Udi Aloni's Junction 48, and in Ofira Honig’s Three Dog Night. She teaches acting and drama in the theatre department of the University of Haifa.

Yaron Scharf – Film and TV cinematographer. Graduate of the Tel Aviv University and the New York School of Visual Arts. Scharf has been the DOP of various films and TV shows in Israel and abroad. Among the features he filmed are Yossi and Jagger, Someone to Run with, Shiva, Footnote, Youth, Bethlehem, Zero Motivation, Villa Touma, Afterthought, Harmonia, and Norman.

Julie Schlez – Director and independent producer of feature films, documentaries, dramas, and television series. Schlez won the Israeli Academy Award for Best Director for Sangin and Baba Luba (documentary films); Daroma (a documentary series); Afula Express (a dramatic feature that won six Israeli Oscar awards, including Best Director); and Must be Happy (a dramatic feature that received three Israeli Oscars). Schlez is also a three-time winner of the Volgin award at the Jerusalem Film Festival, and her films received awards at many other international festivals.
